Rotunda is proud to announce its next feature project. Based on the legend of Robin Hood and his exploits in the crusades under King Richard, Robin Hood Begins (a working title) follows the young would be saviour of Britain through the harrowing and deeply moving events of the third crusade.
As Robin learns more about himself as a man and the politics of the Britain, in particular the actions of Richard the "Lionheart" he begins to re-evaluate the world and his own mortality.
To the backdrop of a brutal war of attrition we see the young man of Locksley change from a spoiled brat into the man who would return home and become a hero for his people. His journey through the crusade deeply affects him as the story progresses and it leads Robin to question the war and it’s reason, which he thought he knew, his King, who he thought he loved and the cause, which he thought was just.
Writer Luke Rufo (‘Quinn’, ‘Crimson Knights’) has been attached to write the script based on the story and concept created by Kevin McDonagh (‘Lycanthropy’, ‘Idol of Evil’).
With a script due by the end of July production is expected to begin as soon as a director and star name are attached.
